Amazon shipped 37million smart speakers in 2019, ranking first in the market accounting for 29.9%

According to foreign media reports, according to the latest report by market research company canalys, Amazon has become the global leader in smart speaker market not only in the fourth quarter of 2019, but also in the whole year of 2019.

In the fourth quarter of 2019, Amazon recorded 15.6 million units, accounting for 31.7% of the market share. In the whole year of 2019, Amazon will ship 37.3 million smart speakers, with a market share of 29.9%.

Baidu, the third ranked company, has a quarterly growth rate of 129% and an annual growth rate of 384% at the end of the fourth quarter of 2019. By the end of 2019, the global market share of the Chinese brand was 13.9%, and the shipment volume increased from 3.6 million in 2018 to 17.3 million in 2019.

Alibaba and Xiaomi, ranked fourth and fifth respectively, had 16.8 million units and 14.1 million units annually, taking 8.9% and 7.1% market share respectively.

Overall, in 2019, the global shipment of smart speakers totaled 125 million units, an increase of 60% over 2018. In China's smart speaker market, driven by Baidu, Alibaba and Xiaomi, China's smart speaker shipment volume more than doubled in 2019, from 21.9 million in 2018 to 52 million in 2019, accounting for 64% of the total shipment.

Canalys predicts that sales of smart speakers in China will drop 22% year on year in the first quarter of 2020 due to the outbreak of coronavirus. The company also expects the market for smart speakers to get better in the third quarter once the epidemic improves.
